A series of lawsuits have been filed in Belknap County over the disputed ownership of a tool box containing two gold bars with an estimated value of over $1 million. The cases are expected to be heard sometime early this Spring unless a settlement can be reached. Disclosure of the names of those involved are being withheld for obvious reasons.
The lawsuits stem from the discovery of a tool box during a routine septic inspection at a house in Gilford owned by descendants of...

I grew up in Northern NH in a classic, white clapboard farmhouse that was built in 1799. It was said to be the second oldest house in our tiny little town of mostly modest year round homes, summer cottages, and grand old hotels. Our farmhouse had four rooms on the main level and four bedrooms upstairs. When we moved in there was an unfinished ell that was used for cold storage and a three story barn which obviously had held livestock at some point in the past. The house sat on a typical...

A Handyman Christmas Gift List from Lakes Region Home
‘Tis the season again and while most people may have other things on their minds there are a few holiday home shoppers still poking around under the tree for a new house for their families. My best advice to anyone trying to sell their home during the holiday season is to make sure it exudes a colorful festive spirit and décor…but don’t overdo it too much. Got Wood? The Lakes Region Real Estate Market Report
It’s November. And here in the Lakes Region it’s getting colder. Yup, it is downright frosty some mornings. So it is time to crank up the wood stove. This year I decided to try some kiln dried firewood instead on the seasoned wood I got last year to see how it burned in comparison. Kiln dried wood is, well, it is kiln dried like in a big oven. I had a cord delivered and dumped on the lawn next to the basement door. I paid...
