Couple of shots from yesterday afternoon...when there's snow on Gunstock, it's time to call it a year, and if I had been able to get my trailer out of storage, it would have been over. One more trip for me![emoji6]

Drunk on cabernet heading to the island ... "a glass" probably means one of those giant goblets. And I bet you exceed the speed limit in your high powered performance boat. I thought some of those evening pictures were blurred because of waves, now we know the real reason! :)

There are a coupled of brands of Scotch that come in heavy plastic bottles that won't break no matter how long they roll around in the bilge. Even in a box, (I'm told) wine will go bad over time.
BTW, if the yakkers rule, the whole lake will be a NWZ and you will be able to exceed the speed limit with ease. In the normal course of things, we'll all go at headway speed and have a few en route instead of waiting until we drop anchor. It will be like bumper cars, and the "safety" issue will head for Davy Jones' locker.

Funny, I associate certain drinks with certain activities. Boating = beer. Home or nice dinner out = wine. Party could be either. Late night relaxing = scotch.
I'm not against trying something new, but as I read this realized I don't believe I've ever had a sip of wine in or around a boat.

Tastes change as we age. Correct that. As we mature. Too many carbs so I hardly ever drink beer anymore. And I can barely remember Annie Boone Farm fruity wine.. Someday, I'll get a bigger boat and the steward will serve only champagne.

same with me...used to be strictly a beer drinker, but unless it's a hot summer day or I'm hanging on J's beach, I stay away from it and stick to wine.

When we had our boat, on the night of a full moon, or close to it, we would go out Alton Bay and a slow cruise out to the Broads. We would open a bottle of wine and prepare a plate of cheese and crackers. Most nights it was calm enough to kill the engine and watch the world go by and the moon come up. Great way to end a day.

Steve, just a few reminders for the new boating season to keep you out of trouble on the C-Nile:
1) You need to stay below 45 mph
2) Please stay away from shore when you are pulling wake surfers
3) Stop blasting the hip-hop tunes from your tower speakers
If you follow those rules we won't shame you for not drinking IPA's at sunset. :)

You can find me in the club...bottle full of bub... sorry, I was having Super Bowl halftime show flashbacks.... just my .50 Cent's worth...
45 mph??? No problem.
Wake surfers?? I think I've pulled my grandson in a tube a couple of times, but that's it.
Hip Hop from tower speakers? All my speakers are in the cabin, so the only one who'll suffer damage from that is me. Any sound escaping would probably be drowned out from the extremely loud " through the hull " exhaust pipes, so we're good with that as well!
The only issue I'm gonna have is lugging the 100 pounder propane tanks after my December open heart surgery. I'd better step up my " cardiac rehab " routines....fast!! :-)

Hey, here's a local weather factoid ....... today, Sunday, June 19 at 12:30-pm ..... the weather on top of Mt Washington is both the coldest at 26.6-degrees and the windiest at 36.8-mph in the entire U.S.A. .... with freezing fog .... wind chill 9-degrees F .... according to the info under warnings in the Winnipesaukee.com weather page and also from weather.gov, the National Weather Service.
So, if you thought today was a cold and windy day out on Lake Winnipesaukee ....... ...... you want to quick trailer your boat up top Mt Washington to see what real cold & wind is all about! .... is like winter up there, today, on June 19th!
www.mountwashington.org/weathercams/default.aspx
The straight line, air miles distance from Mt Washington to Lake Winnipesaukee is about 40 to 55 miles depending where on the lake plus an elevation difference of 5784' (1.1 mile) with Lake Winnipesaukee water level-504', and Mt Washington summit-6288'.
And, this photo tweet ... www.twitter.com/NWSGray/status/1538445211826671616 ...... made on June 19, 4:54-am from the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine on the 1.3" of snow that fell on the summit of Mt Washington which is very unusual.
Hey there, you want to closely read this NH Fish & Game rescue report which talks a lot about the cold and windy weather up top these here ..... them there ..... frosted mountains ..... which can be seen from Lincoln Park, Gilford from about 50-miles distance away ..... on the Lake Winnipesaukee shoreline .....https://nhfishgame.com/2022/06/20/hypothermic-hiker-carried-off-gulfside-trail-near-mt-clay .... that froze to death a 53-year old hiker from Andover, Massachusetts who was hiking the Gulfside Trail along Mt Washington which is also that famous white blazed, Appalachian Trail, that goes from Georgia to Maine.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb805F2k6Yc ..... NH Fish and Game, rescue carry-out, Mt Clay-Gulfside Trail, around 11-pm, Saturday, June 18, 2022
https://nhfishgame.com/2022/06/20/update-hiker-rescued-from-gulfside-trail-near-mt-clay-dies/ .... it had to be cold and windy, rain, snow, ice and fog, up there on the rocky Gulfside Trail on Mt Clay on Saturday, June 18. He sent a text to his wife and the NH Fish & Game went to his rescue, driving up the 7.6-mile long, Mt Washington Auto Rd in a state snowplow truck with tire chains and then walking to his location, over there somewhere on the icy Gulfside Trail on Mt Clay, aka Mt Ronald Reagan, just north of Mt Washington.
...............
Moral for this very SAD New Hampshire hiking, hypothermia death: https://hikesafe.com, $25-individual, $35-family, good only in New Hampshire!
If you want to get rescued off a New Hampshire hiking trail without getting hit .... .... with a big fat cost-of-rescue bill, then you better have a $25/35 HikeSafe card. Don't hit that NH-trail without one.

Views from the Tiki Hut Boat?? As I am slowly approaching retirement (65 in a few days), I came to the conclusion last year that I really don't enjoy leaving the lake every day to commute to my job in Dover. I deal with impatient, sometimes nasty service customers all day ( especially worse since COVID ), and since I'm really not ready to slow down completely, I needed to find an enjoyable job up here. The first thing that came to mind was piloting Tiki Hut boats. Unlike most of my service customers, everyone on those boats should be happy and really want to be there! I contacted the owner of the company, filled out an application, and got my commercial boating license. I just completed my training runs, and had my first solo run this past Sunday. Less stress than 5 minutes of my regular job...I love it. Hopefully it's something I can do once I'm fully retired ... can't think of anything better than working on the lake that I never want to leave!!

Disagree. I think the docks can handle larger boats from a structural point of view. When they were first built with pre-stressed concrete, (ca. 1960?) there was a lot of commercial activity in Glendale. The big pilings at the ends are certainly less convenient for smaller boats. Cars and trucks could drive out on all three docks. That was much easier when I had a car load of stuff to unload. The Bear and the Camp from Camp Lawrence and Camp Nokomis were regulars for supplies and campers on "change days". That continued when they went to one larger boat (The Bear) for many years. Islanders who use Glendale instead of a rented/owned slip someplace started lobbying for more restricted use and the BOS eased the commercial users out over time. As I recall the 30' limit started only for commercial boats.
Scroll back on this thread and you will see pix that Steve posted of a beautiful 35' boat that is a regular. More recently there was an attempt to extend 30' to all boats, and then the TM backed off a little to allow those with larger boats to pick up, drop off, mail, trash, guests, etc. In the picture of the Gypsy, it looks like she is backed in with her bow extended so she is not using more that about 25-30 feet of dock. Very polite and considerate.

Those docks are NOT the same as they were “back in the day”. They have been rebuilt numerous times and now simply consist of precast concrete slabs simply resting on (not bolted to) a wooden crib. The vertical wooden pilings are only embedded into the lake bottom and not even anchored to the sides of the crib. As a matter of fact you can grab any of those vertical pilings and easily move them 6 or 7 inches in any direction. The town of Gilford paid to have the docks straightened out three years ago and five years ago. One time was due to ice the other due to summer movement caused by large boats and it wasn’t cheap!
I don’t consider parking a 48’ boat which is 18’ over the town limit and also park it on a restricted dock “polite and considerate”. When rules are only for others and not for you, that is a perfect example of entitlement!
It is a beautiful boat though….

Gilford NH, Glendale Facility Regulation #15.4.3.1 Docking of Boats
says:
(c) ..... "No commercial barge or vessel over thirty (30) feet in length shall be allowed to utilize the Glendale docks on a year-round basis."
As the foremost authority ...... ...... on NH Maritime Law since New Hampshire was first invented, I hereby interpret this to mean ...... is perfectly okay for this beautiful 1948 Gypsy to tie up at the Glendale town docks whenever the heck it wants to! ...... hut-hut-hut ...... beautiful boats like this are just like beautiful women ...... they get to go and do whatever they want ..... whenever they want ..... and everyone is TOTALLY pleased that it be HERE! .....:banana:;)
Wow ...... what a great look'n set of OARS on this Gypsy boat! ..... hut-hut-hut! .....

I agree on summer flying by. Maybe it is an age thing! When we were little summer vacation seemed to last forever (at least until the week before school started.). As we grew older it seemed to get shorter & shorter. But seeing it short is much better than not seeing it at all!![emoji6]

This morning was the first time I actually felt chilly in quite a while. Like the crisp air, don't like the signal of summer being close to over.
Summer does seem short, I try to start it in May and end it in October to feel like I had a longer summer. So in my world summer is 5 months, fall is 2, winter 3, spring 2.
Only when it drops down into the 20s and 30s do I use the heater...anything above that, all my " hot air " seems to warm the cabin up!

I don't know how it was moved, but I bet it was quite a sight going down a highway.
Faye's Boat Yard had something to do with the sale.
Associated Boat Transport moved her, they transport 600 boats a year and have a lot of experience hauling antique wood yachts. They were very accommodating in part because they were familiar with the Gypsy and her history.
I have been friends with the Fay's for many years, but they did not have anything to do with this sale. I have just been bugging them for two years to make some room in their boat yard for me. :)
