Alton Bay Ice Runway Open

Pleased to announce that the Alton Bay ice runway (1 / 19 ) is plowed and open for business. Already saw one person in a normal auto that drove down on the ice, and then all around the runway and taxiways. Spoke to him personally as did a representative from Ossipee Valley Aviation. Going on the runway is illegal, the same as going on a runway at Laconia, Manchester (I know, Manchester - Boston

), etc.

Here's a view from Levey Park on Rte 11, looking over the top of Parker Marine. Dog leg to final, and cleared to land!

And the view from Gillan Marine, looking at the approach end of runway 1... Look out for snowmobiles, trail bikes, other vehicles, and pedestrians

Please folks, enjoy the sights of the planes on the ice at Alton Bay, but please don't violate the runway and taxiway space. It is dangerous, and illegal to do so. On behalf of the pilots, we thank you.

HI UTS,

Any chance that they will re-schedule the Winter Carnival? It now looks like perfect conditions on the bay.

Planes were landing and taking off on Superbowl Sunday.
