Talking I saw an EAGLE!

Hey everybody! This morning around 11:00 I was traveling up the Boulevard, and spotted something large flying alongside me. At the next curve we crossed pathes, and I nearly drove off the road! There before me in all his glory flew an immature bald eagle!

He followed along crossing paths with me until I reached the area of Christmas Island, when I lost sight of him going around the long bend. I continued on to our place, and when I got out of the truck I started looking. Sure enough, about two minutes later I see him heading straight toward me. He flew across the roadway, and directly overhead, then continued on toward the lake again.

He was absolutely beautiful, and I sincerely hope he hangs around and continues to grace us with his magnificence!

Anyone else seen any eagles flying around the area?

On Paugus Bay, we spotted one last summer near Big island. Their size is amazing!

Default Eagle sighting

Well Pepper & Tricia I thank you both !!

On one of our week-ends at the Lake this fall I could have SWORN I saw an eagle flying along the shoreline of our cottage (just up the road from you Pepper) near the Weirs channell / Govenors side.

At first I thought it to be a hawk,so didn't really think much of it. Then it turned and having made the trip through Alaska in the past it was quite easy to recognize it for what it was -- a EAGLE --

By the time I got my wife's attention it was out of view -- Now with your help I know I wasn't halucinating or more appropriately had a cocktail too many

Default Eagle Sightings Near the Weirs

Phantom,

I am also in that section of the lake and from mid-June through late-July I also saw a mature Bald Eagle a few times a week, ten to fifteen minutes before the Mount would blow its "5 minute" horn. It would come from Paugus Bay, fly up the channel and continue out towards Spindle Point. It was a few hundred feet in the air and looked to be scanning the lake for an early lunch.

Great bird and a great sight. Unfortunately, I never got a good photo of it.

I have not seen it since the 25th of July.

Having been an avid birder for more than half a century, I had no difficulty identifying this avian amazement.

Phantom - you are so correct - their shape, flight pattern, and markings are so easy to identify! I'm sure you weren't hallucinating (nor had you had one too many! )

tricia - no question about it, their size is cause for complete awe!

Zee - you crack me up, even when you're not in the dining room! I miss your smiling face - it's a good thing your avatar has one! I'll be so ready for a hug from you in the spring!!! Hope you two are staying warm and enjoying yourselves.

DRH, IG, IS, RG, JS - I'll bet y'all know what my first thoughts were when I saw this magnificent bird soaring in the heavens! My heart is so much lighter today!

Hi Pepper,

Just catching a glimpse of one of these spectacular birds is amazing....but even more amazing is the timing of your sighting and the fact that it followed you ! Coincidence.....I don't think so. I think that someone close to you used the "Eagle Express" to let you know that they are OK now and will always be around in spirit

Happy Thanksgiving,
-"Mee"

Default Agreed

Things happen for a reason, though it is not always revealed to us... at least not right away. Take the miracle and run with it!

Yes it is an amazing sight. We saw one two years ago now in the Braun Bay area. It circled over head for a few minutes before flying off toward the Broads. Here's a question and excuse my ignorance...do they stay here for the winter or do they migrate south?? Silly question?

I saw a mature eagle on Moultonborough Neck 2 weeks ago. My first one on the lake. It goes with this year's bear ( middle of 106) and moose ( near Danbury ) sightings.

Default Eagles Soar

Pepper -- and others,

If you truely want to be in Awe of "mother nature" then you must save up your pennies and take an Alaskan Cruise (especially the side trips). Between the Glaciers, Eagles and the other parts of truely "the Last Frontier" it is no wonder people fight to prevent oil drilling etc in that part of our country (and I am in NO WAY one of those "save the earth" fanatics- as evidenced by by need for speed in the boat )

When I tell you -- Eagles are as prevelant as pigeons -- it is far from stretching the truth. As you look into the trees up there you see hundreds of "golf balls" in all the trees -- guess what -- Eagles!!

Default Eagles everywhere

Today I had an eagle guide me down Rt. 41 in Bonita. He can off the river. We see them here quite often when boating but the best view ever was when one can down about 10 feet to port of my boat catch a fish and flew off.
4 winters ago my niece’s family stayed in my condo on Wentworth and saw an eagle resting in the pines in front of the condo. He was there most of the deep winter.

The cormorants on Winni seem larger than the one in FL. We have a large amount of the here be are usually small. I don’t think the NH ones get this far south.

I was at one of my customers houses checking on thier yard the other day, down on Veasey Shores in Meredith. Admiring the view, when a shadow came over me rather quickly, by the time I looked up eagle was right overe head and man what a sight!!!!
Last time I saw one of them I was on a tour in Terra Nova provincial park in Newfoundland. They were awesome. The Captain of the boat I was on threw a frozen fish into the water and this eagle came down and picked it out of the water about 15 feet from the boat I was on. Talk about a moment in life you just dont forget!!!!

Back in August,my wife and I were watching a full grown eagle flying in lazy circles over our bay, coming closer and closer. When it arrived directly overhead,it was a magnificent sight and it's circles seemed to be tighter and tighter....we panicked, briefly, thinking it was coveting our CATS......but it finally moved along after a great show.

Is there someone who can't watch birds without awe? And their songs...which we've discovered...are love-songs.

Even the smallest of birds are amazing! All are masters of a dimension about which we can only marvel.

(Of course, one could still have a favorite).
