A family of ducks has climbed up on the feeding dock at Shannon Pond and gathered around my feet as I toss fish-food pellets to the giant trout in the pond - they give the impression that they have every right to be at the table. The ducklings seem fearless of people, while mom stays a few feet back, quacking softly, perhaps a little nervous about their safety.
