Two photos sent along by MP who writes, "My daughter scanned in these pics for me which I send on to you. I cannot remember the name of the man in front of the 250 engine at the moment. It was taken around early 80's by my dad at the Wolfeboro station. But I am sure lots of people in Wolfeboro could tell you his name...he was with the Wolfeboro Railroad for years. I thought this was a nice pic of the engine and coal car. Second pic is of Robert Pigott. Thanks again. MP.

The man in the top photo beside engine #250, is engineer Charlie Ruff.

Charlie worked for the Wolfeboro RR during the Hallock years. He was quite a character. Always had a cigar clamped in his teeth while running the engine. I believe he had been an engineer on the Long Island Railroad in New York for many years before retiring.

I was a volunteer for the Wolfeboro RR from 1973 to the end of the Hallock ownership. I designed their "logo" (The Large W in a circle with an R on each side. I also did the "birds eye" view map on the back of their brochure, and the art for a series of 4 placemats the railroad sold in the gift shop. One of those showed up on the wall of the Poor People's Pub Restaurant in Sanbornville!

We had a great deal of fun while it lasted. I have movies, slides and prints that we took there. It's sad to see it gone, but at least the motorcar club still uses it, and hikers too. I rode one of the cars all the way to Rte. 16 two years ago. First time I'd ridden the line since about 1979.

Most all of the old timers who were there in the 70s have passed on. Only a few of us younger volunteers are still around. I'd be happy to correspond with anyone who wishes to.
