As always a great find McD. This bridge looked quite similar in the early 60's.
Loon Cove is opposite Echo Point on the west side. When Route 11 was rebuilt almost everything that identified the cove including the area where the store was were covered with the base road materials. All that remains today is a section of the original Route 11 which now is way below the new road. Today the opening under the road is too small for a boat to go under, maybe a kyak.
As a child in the early 60's I took my 9' pram with 3 hp Evinrude (Still have the boat and motor) under the bridge into the marsh.

You are correct sir! Loon Cove across from Echo Point. FYI, I have caught several bass out by the spars there.

So If I am up on Rt. 11 it is between Jesus Valley Road and Rt 11D...around that area? So that marsh used to be accessible by small boat? You learn something new everyday! Thanks! Another question...where did the old RR tracks cross loon cove?

The bridge area is just before Jesus Valley Road as you go north on Rt. 11 The road is much higher today than before the Rt. 11 rebuild. As you are going north look to the right before you can see the lake you will see the old Rt. 11 (has a circle on one end). If you go onto Rt. 11D and took a right that would be where the old road crossed the cove. If you went left towards the Bay Side Inn there is a building (Painted grey)on your left and that was the Mount Major Country Store many years ago.
As I remember the new road is actually on portions of the RR bed and if my memory serves me (and yes it does fail at times)they actually used the original RR bed location that had crossed the cove and that is why it is so much higher today. Very little of the bed remains in this area today. Just south of Loon Cove on Rt. 11 near the Bay Side Inn sign you can see a little of the RR bed (I verified this on 1/3/05)and it is not much to see today. You actually can trace the bed north and then it goes out along the shore up to Mt Major Park (it was a RR stop) where it is still in existance as an RV trail going north.
McD maybe you could find a post card of the Loon Cove store and cabins which sat at the bridge.
