"Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest of the New Hampshire Lakes and the third largest inland lake in the United States has an area of seventy-one square miles; its length is twenty-five miles and the width, ten miles. In places the depth is over two hundred feet [which we know isn't really the case]. There are two hundred and seventy-four island. One hundred and eighty-two miles of shoreline and the altitude is five hundred feet above sea level. Winnipesaukee, surrounded by mountain ranges, offers scenic attractions unsurpassed anywhere in the world."
