This cottage was built in 1929 by Walter Piper with the help of his woodworking class from Lynn MA. He called it Peter Inn but I do not remember the origin of the name.

My family leased (year round) the propety from Mr. Piper in the 60's for a number of years.

I left Mr. Piper fixing the dock abutment one summer morning (I cannot remember 67 or 68) - He died there on the dock in Peace after finishing the repair - looking out at the lake. His wife told me it was the place that made him the happiest.

The same family still owns the property and I visited them in 2004. No major changes to the cottage. Wonderful people.

Actually I remembered they called the cottage Peter Inn, I do not know why. Piper's Inn makes more sense to me.

We should all be so lucky to pass on peacefully in a place we love.

"Peter Inn" makes sense to me.

It's where you go when you're "petered out".
