I don't know why this card comes out so green when scanned. In the foreground, the parking area of one of the few remaining drive-in theaters left in New England. Above that, with the orange roof? Was there once a Howard Johnson's there? Notice that there is no water slide. Click on the red "Listen" button below for a nostalgic rememberance of drive-ins.

Hard to believe the area once looked so undisturbed! I'd love to know what year the photo was taken, to see how many years it took to become so much more congested! Any idea of the date?

From the look of the postcard itself I would guess the 1950s. I have confirmation from fellow photoposter, ces, that there was indeed a Howard Johnson's restuarant in the Weirs at one point. Note to the left of the bridge no buildings as there are today. Compare with the Weirs Channel Web Cam. Click below.. http://www.weirsonline.com/livecam.htm

The Howard Johnson's was there when we first came up to NH in 1959 and was there for quite a few years after that, so it was probably late 1960's or early 1970's before it closed. It sat empty for a while after that. I would guess the picture is from the early 60's.
