Taken with a telephoto from about the midpoint of steep "Ledge Hill Road" in Tuftonboro. Until recent years, this view—made possible by a "clear-cut"—had been hidden by forest. This shows a trail cut across Black Snout Mountain. (Alternatively referred to as "Black Snoot Mountain" on N.E. hiking websites).
Black Snout Mountain is difficult to see from Winnipesaukee, as natural haze causes it to merge with the taller Mt. Shaw behind it. Ironically, a cool morning chill will put a heavy "moustache" of fog between the two peaks, which then shows Black Snout Mountain's summit clearly.
