In the early 1900's, when Tom Plant built his huge estate, Lucknow (now Castle in the Clouds), he had the 2 access roads to his property protected by gatekeepers housed in specially built gatehouses, constructed in stone, like his mansion on Lee Mt was. Here we see the gatehouse at the end of the Ossipee Mt Rd, still being used today, tho now part of the bottling plant property. Looking over the top of the gatehouse far into the background, you can see Suncook, Belknap, Gunstock and Rowe (partially) mountains, all peaks of the Belknap Range.
