While climbing to the summit of Avery Hill a couple of days ago I came upon this US flag attached to the top of a small (20+ ft) pine tree, on the westerly slope of the hill just a little below the summit. One has to wonder why - since it was Flag Day 2 weeks earlier, perhaps someone from Sunset Lake, in the middle of the photo, or Hills Pond, immediately to the right of Sunset (tho out of sight here) placed the flag figuring that they could see it any time they were on the lake or at the western shoreline.

So I was walking the dog on the dirt road just up above the cottage this afternoon and I looked up and saw this flag on the top of Avery Hill aka Blueberry Hill. The wind had if furled out against a white cloud background. Hard to miss. Wonder who went to the effort to put it up there?
