Piper Mt has, in recent years, become one of the most popular hiking destinations of the Belknaps. And for good reason; it is the 3rd highest peak in the range, and has a long flat summit with lots of open ledgy spots that provide grand views. This is the first view most hikers see, from the north summit - views from the south summit ledges, 3/4 of a mile distant, are even more expansive than from the north summit. Tumbledown Dick, not of the Belknaps and near Kingswood Lake, 14 miles distant in Brookfield, shows up in the gap between Mt Belknap and Suncook Mt. Heator Mt, a little recognized member of the Belknap group, shows only a small slice of its summit, mostly hidden by Suncook.
