Photo yesterday from Wentworth Hill in Sandwich. This shows the double summit of Whiteface, which has a second summit, about 400 yds NNW of and only a few feet shorter than the southern summit, that is almost never seen from the lake or areas immediately around the lake because the southern summit blocks its view; or, at the right angle, when it might be barely visible, it blends in so well with the front summit that it is unrecognizable. When this photo was taken, conditions were such that both summits can be discerned. The Rollins Trail, which joins the summit of neighboring Mt Passaconaway with the top of Whiteface passes over both summits of Whiteface. The two summits to the right, peeking up over the eastern shoulder of Whiteface, are Passaconaway and Nanamocomuck - Passaconaway is 45 ft higher than Whiteface, but is further north and appears to be shorter in this photo.
