Looka like the town of Gilford got it right last night! Hopefully Ames Farm boat launch will reopen this season!

Good news. I refrained from posting prior to the vote as I saw on the warrant articles that the town had a bold typed sentence that the Planning Board did not support adoption of the ordinance.

Thank you Gilford voters!

The people speak....
Quote:
The last proposed petition article would have effectively not allowed public boat launching. The purpose of the article was to "protect and preserve existing residential shorefront neighborhoods from excessive traffic, noise and over concentration of commercial uses on a shorefront lot."

This article failed by a landslide of a vote of 1,020 'no' votes to 275 'yes' votes. The article was proposing that boat-launching ramps and related parking and storage facilities be open to the public, whether as a principal or accessory use, to be prohibited within 1,500 feet of a property that is residentially developed.

Thumbs up

In general local voters are a pretty savvy group. This petition article defiantly had an odor to it and they smelled it out.

Kind of makes me wonder what the voters think of Atty. Nix who was pushing for it? And, since I don't live in Gilford, I wonder how the Gilford voters feel about Ames Farm Inn in general? The vote on the petition could be interpreted as support for Ames Farm but I'd really like to know how they feel. Unfortunately, I'll probably never see an answer to that question.

Anyways, good for Ames Farm!! I'll have to give them a call once my boat comes out of storage to see if their launch ramps are indeed open to the public once again!
