Exclamation News-Talk Radio Format Announced...

A new news-talk radio format is coming to The Lakes Region.

WASR has been broadcasting Citadel's satellite-delivered "Timeless" standards format; however they've announced a format change for WASR (AM-1420). WASR is presently a very clear local AM broadcasting station in the Lakes Region. On December 26, 2009, WASR will go over to a news-talk format.

During the day, presenters Laura Ingraham, Clark Howard, Fred Thompson and Lou Dobbs will be featured; at night, WASR will carry Fox Sports Radio.

Laura Ingraham could only be heard (formerly at night in this region) at WABC-AM, New York City. I haven't heard the others, but I understand Clark Howard is a kind of "Money-Talk" show, similar to Bob Brinker's.

As FLL might announce, this will be the perfect AM-radio setup for those who wish to detect sounds of lightning at a reasonable distance while boating on the Big Lake—AND—who want the latest embarrassing headlines on, say, Global Warming.

WASR is owned and managed by the son of the former (and long-time) Wolfeboro Selectman, Paul Hatch. (Late of "Hatch Theaters"). The son also owns Spectrum Photo in downtown Wolfeboro.

("Hatch Theaters" is where you could watch the latest in Hollywood's offerings while bats flitted between bright projector lens and silver screen).
