I was not sure which category this topic should go in as it will potentially effect each topic in time. We have spend much time up here at the Lake this summer and all it has done is RAIN!! I was just awoken by torrential down pours again. For a second the house was rumbling and I though the house was on fire as the rain was coming down so hard. I just thought Friday (July 24)would have been the last day and the sun would finally start to shine, then comes this. I can not believe that Winni and area lakes are not at flood stages. I would think there was so much rain that the entire lake would have NO WAKE ZONES. I would think the PEMI River would be flooding it's banks especially in Plymouth. The people running the dam at Lakeport must be doing a great job or something. I would think that other lakes down stream from Winni may not be fairing so well. I have a area of my yard that has washed into the lake. Please help if you can. Please let Mother Nature know she is not being very nice!!

Two pictures from just about the same spot. Note the leaning trees.
This was 7-12-09 This was yesterday, and it's even higher this morning. I'd have to measure it, but it looks like the river is up about 2 to 3 feet. ![]()

Rainfall last year for June + July was 8.7". This year so far thru 25 days of July is 9.2"..
so, while it seems like this summer (so far) has been a whole lot rainier than last year, it really hasn't been... I guess one difference could be how it comes down.. either slow and steady over days and days versus short, intense, downpours... data from Black Cat Island Weather Center: www.blackcatnh.com/weather/ |

I've had enough of this rain. It really is getting to be a bit much.
It has killed plans for me twice this year. Had a good friend from out of state come to stay with me Thursday and Friday. And watching the rain fall sure was a blast. Friday, July 24, and it was 62 degrees, with plenty of wind and rain. The boat is certainly resting comfortably this year. |

I guess for the first time in my family's history we picked the right week to go on vacation. We were at the lake from July 11th to the 18th and except for one day the weather was spectacular.
We have been to Florida coldest week on record, Switzerland for skiing dryest winter in history.....I could go on but you get the picture |
