Can folks share some of their favorite 'rafting zones'. Looking for a shallow sandy area to anchor, around Meredith area, possibly Center Harbor.
On my chart, I see a huge NRZ east of Black Cat island, on Mouultonboro Neck, north of Cook's Point? I know it's NRZ, but what are folks thoght about this area. By the definition, 'rafting' constitutes, two or more boats tied together. In my case I would be anchored alone. Thanks foir your feedback ! Bigdog |

It seems the state vs. boat-ed/NH have different meanings of "rafting". I remember when I took the Boaters Safety Course for NH that "rafting" was defined as "3 or more" boats and that is what I studied and had the the test. Looks like the state has the same understanding. But in the last 2yrs., the boat-ed/nh has it defined as "2 or more" boats as well as the MP. Which one is it?

Rafting in this context means tying boats togther, that starts by tying two boats.
The NH law that restricts rafting certain areas restricts the spacing of two boat rafts and prohibits rafts of three or larger. They call these areas "no rafting" but really they are restricted rafting. |

I think where some of the confusion comes is from the following 2 RSA's:
http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/...270/270-42.htm This defines a raft as 2 boats. http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/...270/270-44.htm This references 3 boats in a raft. Looking at SAF-C 407.03, which defines the no rafting areas on Winni, it references the definition in 270-42. |
