Default Lost Swim Rafts

With all the open water, it's difficult to tell where it came from, but an aluminum, two-pontoon swim float is floating amongst the ice floes in the middle of Winter Harbor this morning at 7:30AM.

It has a ladder and has some kind of flat tarp-blue-colored device on its surface.

I'd go secure it with my boat, but I'm iced in and the ice (about 14" thick) holds my weight.

It's safe to say that Winnipesaukee isn't ready yet for night boating!

Default Someone Lose a Swim Raft ??

Swim raft floating between Kona and Bear Island shore lines. Looks like a nice one. Hopefully the picture comes through. I would assume this came from the north given the wind direction.

Default A pleasent surprise

Well looks like someone will start the summer off with a surprise. I can imagine a comment something to the tune off, "yes kids I will get the float in this morning, I left it right over............................... Oh Wifey Pooh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought you said you tied the raft up before left last fall?"

Default Lost swim raft...

How about the standard response, "Would the owner please form a line over here."

I saw that raft to the SE of Black Cat about 100 ft from shore last night at 7 pm. Looks like one that belongs to one of the people from that side of the island but I can't remember which one. I thought they had rushed the season and put it out already!

Talking Ahoy there

Is it just me or is there some "rotund" white guy lying down under the slide ? I think there is and he's just out for a little pre-season rafting tour of the lake. Where did this raft come from ? Not the Alton area ... so that leaves .... well ... a few guys off the hook.

I'm hoping it blows all the way to LSP... as opposed to the Weirs.. where we all know who will be investigating! (Supplies for Bike Weekend)

Default Swim raft ???

I have been asked to post the sighting of an apparently free-drifting aluminum pontoon-type raft in Winter Harbor about 500yds off the Carry Beach shore line. Sorry, no further information.

Default Danger!

Someone should go tow that thing to shore before the night. It will be a hazard once it gets dark. I would but I'm not around.

I'm around, but a big ice floe has locked against my shore since Wednesday.

Maybe by this afternoon the ice can be moved away, and I can secure the raft. (Which is still in view at dawn today). Hopefully, it won't be out of sight by then.

Thanks! - I don't mean to order fellow forum members around. It just would be awful if someone hit it at night. Looks like a gorgeous day up there! Wish I was out in the boat!

Default floating objects

If anyone is going more than headway speed at night while there is so much floating debris, they are asking for trouble.
I picked up several tree limbs and one 6 by 6 that was 3 feet long. Any boat that hit that at speed would have had major hole.

Your orders have been obeyed , and the raft secured.

It is an Aqua-Float model. No address on it.

There is a large quantity of white-pine cones and needles on it that are unlikely to have landed on it while it was loose. There is no other leaf debris, so it must have been stored near some mature white pine trees. Hope this helps to find the owner.

This is the model:

I think it arrived from the Libby Museum area—maybe floating away from someone's new "perch beach" with the rising waters from snowmelt and rain.

Default owners?

After telling someone about it I was told that one of the owners on Black Cat has a raft like that, the Lindsays, whom I believe are full time MA residents but I haven't seen any cars in their driveway for weeks. The night before the first posting on this thread I did see the raft floating near the SE side of Black Cat Island, and thought someone had set it out there for the summer. Conditions were calm and it didn't seem to be moving, but in the morning it was gone.

Cool Lost Swim Platform

After opening camp today on sleepers island, we have discovered our swim platform has broken away during the winter. we are on the north east side facing rattlesnake next door to the lighthouse. if anyone has seen or found a platform made from "decking" wood with black floats, and has a trap door in the middle, please call 603-293-2687 up until friday... or 843-987-0210 up until may 10. we will be returning may 12 for the summer.

Default Recent thread...

Do a search for swim raft - someone had a thread going about a swim raft that was drifting recently.

Hope it is yours and it gets returned in good shape!

Default Lost Swim Platform

Be sure to contact Marine Patrol. That is where I would report a found item.
Was your name or another telling detail on it in case you see it at someone else’s property?

How many beers fit across on that slide at one time?

Default missing raft

Looking from the water I'm the beach to the right of Ames Farm. Every fall we pull our raft onto the beach at least 10ft. I've been up my camp many times already this year to see the raft on the beach. I guess the tide or a rogue wave came in last night and the raft is gone now (hmmm). It has an ID tag on it that says PROPERTY OF DIAMOND VIEW. It's an 8x8' aluminum frame, black floats and the decking is off.

If anyone finds it around Rattle or Diamond, (I hope its not farther) but can you call me at 603 819 9370.

Smile Owner found—thanks to the Internet!

I received a message regarding this "found" float, and am satisfied that he's the real owner. He's to pick it up today.
