Default Ace Hardware Heaths) Ctr Harbor

It’s always nice to receive the discount coupons and $5 rewards card every now and then for being loyal customers, you now, supporting the local business. I was a little surprised when I went in today to buy a bag of ice melt as many others did after the ice storm. Got up to the register and there’s a little not that looks like it was freshly printed off the office printer saying reward card cannot be used for ice melt. I call BS. You know people needed it and were buying it and you decided to not let your loyal customers use their $5 reward card. It’s actually not about the $5………it’s the principle.

I find the prices on ice melt better at Hannaford's than any hardware or big box store in the area. It does come in bags so I just put it in a 5 gallon pale with a lid and use a coffee can to spread it around. At my age I'm just trying to stay upright.

It's probably because it's a promo or even a loss leader and they aren't making enough money to give $5 off.

Center Harbor uses the Meredith town dump which has freebie traction sand give-a-way ....... bring a 5-gal bucket ...... and Ocean State Job Lot sells ice melt for less money ..... plus the nearby MVSB has free k-cup coffee in a luxurious banker's paper cup ......good for spreading that free traction sand around ..... ho-ho-ho ......

Well this is interesting....I am a long-time Ace loyalist. I have the app on my phone and they always have great coupons. This past weekend, I went into the Ace in Bedford and bought 3 bags of ice melt and some other miscellaneous things. Total was $86 I handed the cashier my phone to scan the "$15 off $75" coupon...system wouldn't take it. Cashier did not know why. He then tried my "$10 off $50" coupon. That wouldn't go through either. Both coupons are valid through 12/31. I paid the $86, but left the store wondering, "what the heck?". I guess it was the ice melt?

As someone affiliated with the store I can tell you that ACE software will only Identify an eligible item for the rewards if it is in their distribution to our store. Items we buy outside of ACE distribution won’t let us use the rewards against the purchase. However our policy is to override it and give the discount thru managers validation. Obviously this did not happen and has been addressed going forward. If you would like to bring the rewards back next time you are in, I will make sure you are refunded. Dave

Now that's customer service. Heath's Ace is a great store.

Arrow ...... a cup of coffee at the hardware store!

About five years ago, Heath Hdwe had freebie courtesy coffee at the entrance available in a 12-oz styrofoam cup that said Tru-Value. It was good Vermont Keurig coffee from the supermarket. Free coffee in an Ace Hdwe cup is a great way to stimulate business and puts customers in a frame of mind to go make that big buy like a $1600 Ariens snowblower or something similar ...... !

The hardware store on Main St in Plymouth was recently sold to Aubuchon and first thing they did was to eliminate their 50-cent k-cup coffee, a move that was definitely bad for their Plymouth business, so maybe Heath's wants to go with a 50-cent k-cup coffee in a quality paper cup. You will be amazed to see what a business builder this is ..... ! ..... something the two local Aubuchon's in Meredith and Moultonborough will not do! ....... 50-cent coffee k-cup with one of those k-cup displays that holds 24 k-cups. It was honor system, 50-cent self-pay into a re-used metal food can with a plastic lid with a slot cut that originally was a large can of peaches or something for doing the money.

I appreciate your response and of course will continue to be an Ace Hardware customer as I have been for the past 30+ years. I just found it strange that the only thing listed was the ice melt, which every store is running out of since the ice storm
