Hello - so our swim dock broke free this week - luckily we were there and beached it before it took flight. Anyway we are looking for someone that can dive to install a new chain (some 12 feet) as the existing wore down and broke as they sometimes do from rubbing on the concrete mooring slab. We had this professionally done some 8 years ago by the Mooring Man/Trident but he has since retired according to his phone message. Any recommendations? (Meredith area). Thanks

We used Winnipesauke Island Services (Mike) for the exact same thing. Did a real nice job. Word of recommendation. Inspect/replace all of the hardware and replace with the chain with stainless.

Same thing happened to us during that crazy wind storm we had about a month ago (we live on windy point rd on long island). Bought chain at aubochon and sent my 39 yr old son down with a dive mask to reattach to the anchor. Amazingly, the wind actually pushed the 200 lb anchor over about 10 ft. We wern't here when it happened and the raft got jammed up against our neighbors breakwater destroying the raft ladder. That took some time to repair...

John Baxter, JB Dive Services in Gilford. He installed our mooring, checks the chain and hardware every years when he puts in the dock. Great guy.

Since your chain is rubbing on the concrete slab and wearing out, you might want to make the first five feet a heavier gauge chain so it will hold up longer.
