Just a heads-up to folks who plan to use the Gilford Town Docks in Glendale:
The end of Pier 1 (where the Gilford FD fire boat is docked) is closed. There are structural issues which have caused the last two sets of deck slabs to shift to one side. A diver inspected the pilings and support beams and found the last set of deck slabs are no longer properly supported. The end of the pier is closed off by warning tape. The rest of Pier 1 is usable and some accommodation will be made on Pier 2 as needed for short term docking, some of which is normally used for Island Residents only. No estimates have been made about when repairs will/can be made, but they will require use of a crane to remove the slab sections in order to effect repairs. Updates will be posted as they become available. |

After a brief discussion with Gilford's Town Administrator earlier today it appears a contractor will be evaluating the needed repairs sometime next week with said repairs to start shortly after.
I would assume the Gilford Selectmen will need to approve any repair expenditures from the Glendale maintenance Capital Reserve Fund. Updates will be posted as they become available. |

Emergency repairs were made to the end of Pier 1 at the end of last week and that section of the docks have been reopened.
More extensive repairs will be made later. A Note: I forgot to mention that the Gilford Fire Boat has also been returned to its usual birth from its temporary berth at the Marine Patrol. Last edited by Weekend Pundit; 06-07-2024 at 02:47 PM. Reason: Something I forgot to mention. |
