Friday, February 10,2023, 11:25-am: Meredith Bay at derby headquarters: exactly zero bob houses and zero people out on the ice in Meredith Bay Lake Waukewan at boat launch ramp and further out: about fifteen different bob houses, tents, and small groups of ice auger fishermen Here's hoping for a return of the ten to twenty degree below zero cold snap that happened during the Pond Hockey Classic, exactly one week ago. |

That Meredith Bay no wake zone out and across from Church Point had open water opening in the gray slushy ice and zero people out on what's normally a very crowded Meredith Bay.
The passage between the Cattle Landing town dock and Rock Island and Bear Island had about ten different ice fisherman groups, with about five of them using red Igloo ice tents but no atv's or snowmobiles. Falling through the ice happens in a split second, and is like falling into a deadly trap with the cold water temp, the water depth, and the thin weak ice surface creating three problems at the same time. |
