Old CIA/Marines Plane at Laconia Airport
This is so cool! Driving through today and saw this. I love planes. Does anyone have information about this particular aircraft? Seems like it could be pretty rare.

From Google I see that it was for sale 2 years ago and located in Virginia:

plane info
The plane shows nose damage - missing a piece of cowling, missing prop hub cone, and has a bent prop. Searching for its tail number reveals other info: It's last recorded landing was at Kill Devil Hills, NC in Sept of 2009, no indication of whether or not the damage happened there. The "CIA" marking on the tail is actually "CNA" and is a trademark for Cessna and the registered owner as a gentleman from Newbury, NH.
How it got to Laconia is not explained. Edit - looks like someone bought it. Thanks to our webmaster! Last edited by skprbob; 09-17-2017 at 04:44 PM. Reason: additional info |

I thought it was mysterious too how it ended up here! That's cool information though.

We had a squadron of these C-337's, USAF name O-2, when i was stationed in Thailand at NKP. Squadron callsigns were Nail xx. Fun to control.

Bent prop means that engine needs to be disassembled and inspected, it's a bummer.

Interesting about this post is that the CIA (yes the real CIA) used several Cessna 337's in the 60's and 70's in some "projects" in Central America and South America. Google it....
