Engine Mounted Trolling Motor

Does anyone have any experience using an engine mounted trolling motor? Minn Kota makes one as well as Marine Tech Products. They look very interesting.

I did, but ultimately I was talked out of even considering it.

I didn't want to deal with something that was permanently mounted, or deal with upgrading my electrical system. Furthermore, those things are fine for flat calm water, if you start to get any kind of head wind and you have a decent sized boat forget about it.

I think that's why you don't see more real serious guys that do a lot of trolling using them. A kicker motor makes way more sense.
