UNH Underwater habitat on Winni
I was doing some archive research and came across a reference to an underwater habitat built as an experiment and learning endeavor by UNH Engineering students in the late 1960's called EDALHAB.
There is a brief notation of this event in the Winni Forum but the links there to NOAA photos etc. are either dead or don't take you where you want to go anymore. As it was a UNH project and the Dimond Library in Durham where I have done a fair amount of Winnipesaukee research had some information on it so I went over there went through what they had. I attach some of what I found. I was hoping this structure was still on the bottom in Alton but from what I read it was removed, however I wouldn't be surprised if the 3,000 pound anchors that held it in place are still there. I also found a map detailing where it was but based on my reading I don't think it sat where the map says it did. |
