Open Water and Salmon Season
What's the chances of there being open water for the opening of salmon season? How's the ice at Gov Island or by Long Island bridge? Notice I said open water and not "ice out." I think my April 9th guess is doo doo.

itchin for fishin
There will be plenty of open water in Wolfeboro where the back channel empties into the Bay; and there will be plenty of boats there Friday AM, too, and lest we not forget, some soul will be fishing from atop the cluster of piles. Good luck to all you fresh water fishermen.

Some success on opening day!
Fly fished for 2 hours yesterday at one of the very, very small brooks that enters the lake. There were about a dozen salmon there waiting for smelt. Hooked 5 fish and landed and released 3 of them. All were 16-18 inches in length and were taken on streamer patterns. Fish were all rather skinny and definitely looking for forage. Brook temperature was 41 degrees!
