Most likely it was subsidized by the sports boosters club with the parents ponying up some $. I'm sure it didn't come out of the school budget.

the 'alleged' incident took place at CAMP ROBINDEL which apparently is near the Geneva Point Center on Moultonborough Neck?

Believe it or not, but quite a few high school football teams do that. I don't know who pays for what, but it is not uncommon. I know that Windham, NH does. The school I coach at (shameless plug for the Bow Falcons!) does not go away.

Sad commentary on today's sports.
The coaches should be fired. No excuses for this behavior.
And if school sanctioned activity then the superintendent should be fired also.

Camp Robindel is for girls. This was a boys football team, I believe. What actually did happen?

Excuse me, what behavior? Did I misread or not read something in these posts? What happened? How quick we are to condemn, without knowing all the facts.

It's awful what's going on with these teams and hazing. My town had some issues a couple of years ago and that was not at any camp just in the locker room. And then I think in Framingham, MA a few weeks ago, soccer camp where a senior broke into a freshman's room and did some pretty awful things. Similar to what happened in my town and probably similar to what happened in this incident.

I really don't want my son to play any sports if this is what is going on. I'm ok with some freshman initiation, but they don't need to resort to sexual assault.

"Pretty awful things.....Hazing....sexual assaults...alleged incidents"

Does anybody have the facts before we crucify these people?

As far as what happened in my town, yes I have proof. I know from an insider (a teammate) exactly what happened. And for the recent incident at the soccer camp, there is reports from the witnesses as to what happened. When I say witnesses it's the other freshman in the cabin who managed to fight off the other kids and keep from getting assaulted.

http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/b...t-soccer-camp/

As far as this Chelmsford incident no I have no proof, but the track record for these things are showing the kids are not just doing simple hazing.

I'm sorry I'm not trying to convict anyone here, I just feel so bad for these kids, being a mom it scares the bejeezus out of me.

Default More Facts

From the Boston globe
Quote:
About a half-dozen members of the Chelmsford High School football team are under investigation in allegedly hazing a teammate during an overnight preseason camp in New Hampshire in August, officials said.
Chelmsford Deputy Police Chief James Spinney said the alleged incident involved “unwanted contact.”
“That's the least level we are talking about, involving something of that nature,’’ Spinney said. He declined to be more specific because his department is not investigating the case, which originated in Moultonborough, N.H.
The alleged incident took place at Camp Robindel, when an estimated 100 underclassmen under the supervision of about 10 coaches spent three nights there, including Aug. 23, when the alleged incident occurred, according to police and the owner of the camp, Nat Greenfield.
Greenfield said his summer camp for girls was closed at the time. He said Chelmsford has leased his property for the past 13 years. He said his staff provides meals and has no role in supervising the Chelmsford students.
“We are a girl’s camp, and this happened with boys,’’ Greenfield said in a telephone interview. “They have nothing to do with us at all, other than the fact that they pay us for using the property.’’
Greenfield said campers arrived by noon Aug. 21 and left by noon Aug. 24.
Moultonborough police said they were investigating an alleged hazing incident involving members of the team.
Spinney said his department is serving as the liaison between Chelmsford schools and Moultonborough police, but he stressed that the inquiry is being conducted and directed by New Hampshire police.
He said only one person has been identified as a possible victim, and that individual did not need medical attention after the alleged incident. He said as many as six teammates are currently under investigation, allegedly for having physical contact with the person.
The investigation comes after three Somerville High School soccer players were accused of raping a teammate with a broomstick at a preseason sports camp in Western Massachusetts, charges that have been denied by the attorney for one of the defendants, 17-year-old Galileo Mondol.
Where were the "supervisory" coaches at the time of the incident?

Is it just me that is confused? The original post referenced an incident in Moultonboro. The 2 posts above are mostly talking about something that happened in Western Massachusetts. Pretty heinous stuff there, but who has the facts about the original post?

The incedent happened in Moultonboro at a football camp, but the team was from Chelmsford (northern Mass).

A similar incedent happened in Western Mass with a soccer team from Somerville, MA.
