Default Johnson's to the Alton Circle

Just in case you have not heard, a landowner has decided not to give access to sleds somewhere on the trail from Johnson's to the alton Circle. Actually between Merrymeeting MHP and the circle. And the ice is not thick enough on the river to cross so please be advised. Also new higher curbing installed around the circle so that will make fueling up there rough if at all possible.
Just thought I'd pass it along.

Default Another problem area...D trail in Alton

As I understand it, the D trail from Bergeron's across Alton Mt Rd to Jesus Valley Rd and Mt Major has a new landowner who has decided to close his property. the closed portion is just west of Alton Mt. Rd to a point west of where the trail from Keewaydin Park crossed Rte 11 to Rand Hill Rd then up to the D trail. Probably a mile or more of trail. Sorry guys and gals...this is an area we liked to snowshoe.

Default The new owner

LRCT? They are known to eliminate recreational use of their land. Isn't land suppose to be for the enjoyment of all?

Default No to LRCT owning land.

Land is owned by a private individual who does not live there right now. There is housing on the property close to the trail.

In my humble opinion, private land is private land, and can be opened to the public as that owner decides. It is unfortunate in this case because virtually all of this section of trail is flat and smooth. MMSC may not be able to do anything about it this year, although I understand they are continuing to try work something out.

Perhaps this will only be a one season problem and an amicable solution can be obtained.

FWIW - The Moultonboro Snowmobile Club has a good working relationship with the LRCT and we utilize snowmobile trails on at least 3 of their properties.

Was this the piece on rand hill road that Steven gray owned and recently sold? His trail section was beautiful. He put lots of hard work into it even though he was not a snowmobiler himself.

Default yes it is.

Codeman you are correct. Loved snowshoeing up to the trail from my house, which is right below that property. There were days we would see Steve and his Goldens out there on the trail.

Any comment I make beyond the fact that it is closed would be third hand info, and I don't want to put that out.

Wish Mt. Major SC would update their website....last entry seems to be Feb 2012.

We almost bought that piece, loved it up there. I couldn't get him to include the golden though, Shelly is a doll.
