Default Hole in the Wall, lighted marker #65

I went thru Hole in the Wall the other day, south to north, and I did not see hide nor hair of lighted marker #65 at the South entrance between Little Bear I and Cow I. I did see a big rock right where I expected #65.

What happened to #65?

The light should be on the Rock itself, not a separate marker....

Default When in doubt!

I always call MP even if I'm not sure, I have them on speed dial and it has come in handy many times.
If you are wrong they will tell you but it you don't make the call someone else may suffer.

After living in the Hole in the Wall for almost 50 yrs. I find it hard to imagine that there is no light on the rock. It was always just a small metal pipe, with a light on it. Haven't noticed any marker there, either. Hmmmm, now I have to go look!

Default Hole In The Wall

This was maybe early spring 1972. It was windy that day. Reefs in the sails. I think it's Little Bear on the left. We did NOT sail through there as narrow channels are quite often "Soft" or open. NB

Good idea not to sail through there NB.The ice is usually very unsafe from a current that runs through that channel.I remember seeing a photo here of an suv that didn't make it.

Good idea Belmont Resident.
What is the best # for calling MP with a question such as mine for #65 at Hole in the Wall.

If my memory is correct there was no #65 and no light, only the rock with a no wake sign on it.

When a light or numbered marker is removed or changed how can one find out about it? Is there a database for such important things so that one can keep one's chart up to date? How do the chart makers stay current?

This sort of thing is too important to be just left to chance.

Are you being flippant or serious, I cannot tell. I usually take things literally, and lake navigation is not something to joke about.

Unfortunately, your memory fails you in this case

Marker #65 does exists and it has always been afixed on the rock (along with a "No Wake" sign"

This is the GOTO guy in New England for IceBoats. "DN" is the most popular class worldwide. Steve has been around for decades and I've done business with him for almost as long. In the old days everyone built their own boat from "One Design Plans." Now there is an alternative. Steve also sells used boats, or knows who has one for sale. NB

PS: Last I knew, Steve does this as a hobby....he also has a Day Job.
