Default Halloween

Has anyone seen a list of what date and times for the various towns around the lake for 2011?

I assume they will have it for Sunday night, but haven't seen anything. I've checked the Gilford town site and the local newspaper sites.

Thanks!

Default Thank You!

That's great news! If they had moved it to Sunday, it would have been "doorbell" time in the middle of the Patriot's game.

Considering the forecast for this weekend, it's not going to be "Happy Halloween"....it's gonna be more like...

Merry Halloween

When I was younger we didn't have hours to go trick-or-treating, we went whenever and it was always on the 31st (I think.)

Default Halloween Morning

With the power out at home in Southboro, we decided to stay another night.
Our treat was a great sunrise this morning...our 6 year old was excited not to have school today, first October snow day in school history.

Default I don't get it...

Just who decides when a kid can go out and trick or treat? What authority empowers them to dictate these rules? If spider man hops out of mom's car and rings a doorbell outside of the mandated schedule does he, or maybe mom, end up in the slammer?

Orwell was right.

The way the game turned out, it would have been OK for doorbell time at least here at our homestead as I kinda got a bit disgusted.

Default Just another reason why I love this little town!

No town I've ever lived in does Halloween quite like Alton!

The Argelets get out of school in just a few minutes and I can't wait to get them in their costumes for trick-or-treating. The youngest is going as Felix the Cat (his favorite cartoon - go figure), and the oldest is going as a ninja.

Festivities in Alton start at 4pm at the school with a pumpkin decorating contest, games, etc., at the school. Trick-or-treat starts at 5pm and goes until 7pm. The area around Main St., School St., Barnes Ave., and up to Old Wolfeboro Rd will be PACKED with kids. Lots of police and fire dept personnel on hand to help with the crowd. Some businesses have cookouts and sometimes a DJ playing. It's like the town has one big block party.

I've lived all over the country and I've never seen a town enjoy Halloween like this one!

Default Halloween Postponed

Due to the power outages, our town postponed Halloween today until Saturday Never heard of such a thing but I guess safety takes precedant. Try explaining that to a 6 year old Black Beard Pirate.

I don't disagree but I'm sure most people would be upset if their door bell started ringing when it was canceled. Back to my earlier post...Just do it if it's to dangerous for someone to take their child out that's their decision.....Stay home.

Default Last nights Halloween fun

AW, How did the kids do last night down on Main Street where you say they do it up big for the kids. I for one was thinking of all the kids having a blast collecting all that stuff that we all enjoy along with our dentist.

They had a blast. We started out at the school, as the PTSA does a big thing for kids in the gym and cafeteria with games, contests, and food (popcorn, hotdogs and cider).

Then we went trick-or-treating from about 5:30p to 6:30p. The youngest Arglet was pretty pooped out by then, so we called it a night but the oldest Arglet wanted to keep going. They did pretty well - I'd say they raked in about 3 lbs of candy between them. There was a good turn out considering the snow on the ground. It was great seeing all the costumes and all the families walking around together.

I post pictures when I can - Argie was the shutterbug last night.

We were disappointed there were no hot dogs and burgers and cider across from library at the red house/limo, tax place
