Scrap metal haul-away?

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone that will come remove scrap metal from our property in Tuftonboro? I ripped down a fence with a lot of rusty posts and wire fencing. I know I could haul it to the transfer station but it would probably take me all day with the number of trips I'd have to make.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Boy if you were in Manchester you could get a dozen different people to take that away for free. I've actually had a couple that spent a few days cutting apart a piece of heavy machinery and haul it away for zippo to cash in at the scrap recycler. In fact, there always dumpster diving in my roll off so I just leave all my metal near it and it disappears and costs me less for disposal weight fees. And its recycled. What a great deal for all of us!

I had some landscapping railroad ties I dug up from the entranceway to my basement so I could make a real bulkhead entrance with a block and cement foundation. The dump in Moultonborough wanted 8 cent per pound to take them off my hands. I figured I had about 800 pounds of ties which was going to cost me $64, plus my hard labor and time to get them there. My wife listed them as free items on Craig's list and within 2 hours I had 3 phone calls. Within one day I had 5 e-mails and 4 more phone calls. The day after I listed them, a nice couple came by and picked them up. Case closed.

Thanks SIKSUKR and Geneva Point, I'll give Craigslist a try. Never even occurred to me that anyone would actually WANT rusty old metal scraps!

tis - any tips on how to contact Rich Piper if CL doesn't do the trick?

We load my dump trailer up about once every 5 years with stuff for the scrap yard. I'd take your in a minute but I'd not make a dime because your just too far from the scrap yards, especially with gas as expensive as it is.

The scrap metal business pays about $0.08 per lb or $160/ton for light iron/steel type stuff today.It is often not worth bringing it to a local yard to deal with. We have a metal dumpster that sits at my warehouse that gets picked up when we call.
