Default NH Fish & Game Salmon Stripping Demonstration

On 11/14/10, "Salmon Sunday", NH Fish & Game demonstrated the process of stripping and fertilizing salmon eggs at Pope Dam in Melvin Village. The fertilized eggs are transported to the Powder Mill Fish Hatchery in New Durham where they are incubated over the winter. After they hatch, they are fed and protected from predators until they reach 10" - 12" in length, and then they are released into Winnipesaukee and other lakes and rivers.
