95 feet long +-; As with all these videos I wish the visibility was better so folks could get a better idea of what the wreck looks like overall but that isn't going to happen. Side scan image attached to help you visualize.
Shot by dive buddy Lea Nichols. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymXPVW44l78 |

Great video. Where is that wreck, and when did it go down?

From the co-ordinates from the Diver111's side scan... just about here way down at the tip of Paugus Bay. I looked but couldn't find any info on how she wrecked. Nice picture of her from RG's fantastic thread on steamships from 2004. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...ernor+endicott

It didn't wreck-as I recall she was scuttled about 1930? Maybe the late 20s'. All superstructure gone (prob. removed first to avoid nav. problems).

![]() ![]() Love the stuff you post. I took diving lessons and got "certified" back in the early 70's. Turns out it was something that I never got "comfortable" with, and never took it on as a hobby. The "open water" dive, that was part of the certification, was off of Nahant, the current and visibility issues sorta freaked me out. Funny thing is that was my last dive. I passed the course, got my card, and have never been back in the gear. (I still have a set of weights if anyone needs them ![]() SteveA

The Governor Endicott was first owned and operated by the Winnipesaukee Transportation Co. I do not know whether it was built by that company or not. They sold it to Capt. Leander Lavallee in 1919 and he operated it until 1922. At that time he sold it to his son, Edward and purchased the S. S. Mt. Washington. Capt. Ed Lavallee operated the Gov. Endicott until 1927, when it was dismantled and sent to its watery grave in the vicinity of the Laconia Water Co. intake pipe.

I can't imagine buying a boat and purposely sinking it only 5 years later.

Does anyone have a picture of what the Gov. Endicott looked like during her working days?
