Default Crazy Gringo is closed

Just read the crazy gringo is closed. With the concord casino crook losing his license. Thinking Anthony has finally purchased the building and will get the casino license he wants.

What's this about a casino?

The article says he has musical performances and dances there now.

I wonder whether there would be much interest in holding so-called "underground raves" there overnight?

Have a DJ spinning EDM for eight or so hours while hundreds of young-uns work themselves into a frenzy.

They've been quite popular out west.

Did the issue have anything to do with Sanborn.
I thought Laconia was unsure of whether it met zoning.

I believe that Laconia found that it does meet zoning and they just have to wait out the licensing process and the background checks.

There are lots of changes going on in the Weirs....

Yes, Gringo is closing. Yes, Anthony is leasing the space. No, Anthony doesn't own the building. I am sure he will have right of first refusal once the family that owns the building decides to sell.

As for the Casino idea... I don't believe there is enough parking to support a Casino in the Weirs.

Lots of other changes as well... Ellacoya will be running the Boardwalk down by the Weirs beach sign. Dox will be taking over Anthony's on the Pier, The family that was running Anthony's will be moving to where Bar Salida was. Compass Cafe is in going to change hands as well although to whom yet is not clear.

Yes there are many positive changes happening at the Weirs. Agree with you on the parking issue.

A casino is not a good idea, The Weirs is a special place ,it needs to attract tourists more than gamblers.

The gambling is probably something that he has investigated and it fits with the current subgroup of customers in his other businesses.

Charitable casinos are not worth going to as the odds on table games are worse than in REAL casinos.

I was shocked to see how bad the odds were at the craps table at the old dog track some years ago.

Heard that the Tower has bought it and will be reopening a new restaurant, something about an ohmage to Nothin' Fancy? Don't know much but that is the rumor that I have heard.

I have been waiting for years for Fun Spot to come out and announce the Bingo Hall building will be a casino.

Not saying they are, not saying they are not, and I do not have any information just saying I'm very surprised it has not happened yet

You might just see the Gringo move across the street into the Compass space.

Thats the word on the street... Not sure if it will keep the Crazy Gringo name. There was another player vying for the Compass spot as well. We will have to see what happens when the Gringo owners get back from a well-deserved vacation.

I hear that it's a done deal and paperwork was signed prior to that vacation.

I was just told that Compass is staying for another summer, from someone that was looking to take it over.

Mike has been talking to her, I toured it with him a month ago. He was considering it and seemed close, but it sounds like she wants to run it again this year.

Have any native Americans attempted to get tribal status established in NH and then leverage that to open a casino?

Are there enough descendants of the original tribes left to do so?

Only takes a few...consider how they did it at Mohegan Sun.

The land where to former King's Grant would make a great spot to build a tribal casino: it's close to the Weirs but not too close.

Maybe they could do that with the drive in property and avoid digging artifacts all together.

Anyone know if The Clubhouse is open? I can't find any info about it online. We are looking for a dinner spot in the Weirs this weekend and I'm trying to see what our options are.

It is open, they opened last week. I don't think they have updated the signage yet so it still probably says Compass Cafe. We went opening night. I am close friends with the head chef.

The menu is still a bit limited, but expanding.

Wednesday nights are going to be a pasta night, which is his specialty. The penne a la vodka is amazing. Been eating that for years at his past restaurants in Dover.

With the very limited season , small population of permanent residents with a relatively low income , opening a casino around the lake would be a financial disaster. Locals are nickel slot people and that doesn’t pay the bills

Only takes a few...consider how they did it at Mohegan Sun.

The land where to former King's Grant would make a great spot to build a tribal casino: it's close to the Weirs but not too close.
This thread is about the Crazy Gringo, not casinos. There have been investigations and/or attempts to establish a tribal descendance, but none successful.

The best place for a casino was Rockingham with a separate exit off I-93 and rail from Boston. Halfway between MHT and BOS. It failed in the legislature, in part because the supporters' bill did not allow for any site competition, and in part because some would not support a casino under any circumstances.

Back to the Crazy Gringo...

Word on the street ( and I have many sources ) is that people are raving about the food at the new Clubhouse!

The new menu is very small (tiny kitchen) but very good! I had the meatball sub and it was delicious! My friends had the wings and they got devoured.

The guy running the kitchen used to have a restaurant down in Dover. All I am hearing is raves for the food! Check it out!

They are still rolling out menu items. I have seen the planned regular menu and it’s a bit more diverse. The owner needs to get signs up and advertise a bit. Mike can handle the kitchen!

We're thinking about trying the Fancy but there's nothing online about their menu. What should we expect?

Is it open yet? I didn't think so, all looked quiet when we were over there last night at the Clubhouse. It was pasta night, we had my favorite dish of Mike's- the penne ala vodka, extra spicy, with sausage, spinach, and mushrooms. Best garlic cheese bread around, its like crack!

The Fancy is a BBQ menu.

Crazy Gringos, we LOVED that place. Great mexican food, and also liked the prime rib special!

Glad I bought my son one of their polo shirts there last summer, he will be so bummed out when I tell him about it closing.
