Does anyone know who on the Lake sells the CMap Max chip? Just got my Standard Horizon CP180i and can't wait to fire it up this week! Just need to wait for the end of the season to do the transducer...I am not a big fan of drilling holes in my hull while the boat is afloat! Has anyone used the "glue on" transducer? Go Sox!!

Check with Thurston's Marina. I know they carry that GPS unit as well as Bizer's Garmin map, so quite likely carry the C-Map chip as well.

Last year I got both a CP180i and the map chip at Irwin Marine. The Bizer site lists the few errors on the chip such as FL26 being marked as FL53.

I did buy the Black Box to go with it...figured I may as well go all in! Likely will not install those until after the season but the Chartplotter will be installed as soon as I get to the Lake!

I've used "glue on" transducers in two boats with great results. On my bowrider, I bought a transom mount transducer but chickened out on drilling the holes. I used marinetex epoxy paste to glue it inside the hull. Work for two years until I sold the boat. I actually twisted the transducer off when I sold it and still have the fishfinder. On my current boat I have the new glue on style that's filled with mineral oil. It also works great. Things to watch for, first call the boat maker and ask where the hull is solid fiberglass. Some hulls have coring in areas and that is supposed to cause issues. I tried it blind on the first boat and everything worked. On the current boat I put it where the factory transducer goes. Put it near the center and near the transom. You want the hull under it to be in the water when you're on plane. My current boat is not in the optimal spot and sometimes looses signal. Sometime this happens with hole in the hull transducers as well. Finally, the temperature sensor won't work. It will tell you the temp of the inside of your bilge. |

Goodhue and Hawkins had SH 180s and C-map chips as recently as 2 weeks ago when I was there. They're in Wolfboro.

I was checking on line at www.costco.com today and can anyone tell me if this Garmin will work with the BIZER Map? It's the Garmin GPS MAP 440x Marine GPS for only $399.00. I am in serious need of GPS.

Is anyone currently using this model? I am thinking of getting it for Father's Day for a gift.

Yes, I recently picked up a CP180I and a spare bracket so that I can switch it back and forth between boats. It works great.

Until last year the Garmins weren't really supported for winni but now you can go to bizer.com and they sell garmin chips, after only dealing with garmin for a few years the c-map chart may be better which fits the CP180i that they are discussing for about the same money.

Jeppeson Marine (link on Bizer's website) will send you the lake C-Map chip for $129 (shep brown's sells it for $185) I ordered mine Thursday, got it Friday. They make the chip for bizer. They also sell cp180i's at cost... just got that yesterday.
good luck |

Which chip did you get? I see that they now have a chart under the Superlakes series that was just updated in April 2009, but again, I can't figure out where to buy it. M-NA-B121.16 Other online sites seem to still be selling the 2007 version. |
