Default Forum Fest V - FOOD & DRINK SIGNUP

At the posting of this thread, the Form Fest V is just TEN DAYS AWAY! The raffle for charity is shaping up nicely.

Now we need to nail down the details about the food...

Like a family reunion or a church picnic, bring what you think will tickle people's fancy... Some ideas might include casseroles, salads, snack items, desserts, side dishes, and drinks. (No adult beverages.)

We will need plastic silverware, plates, bowls and cups, etc.

(I'll edit this post later with details on what we'll need at The Loon Center for tables, chairs, etc.)

Here's a list of what people have signed up to bring:
Chips & Dip - ghfromaltonbay
Goodie to Be Announced - LoveBites Pastry Shop
Burgers & Dogs - MistyBlue
Soft drinks & water - rrr
Chili (?) - SteveA
Fruit salad - Argie's Wife
Plates, bowls, utensils, etc. - Hermit Cover & Mrs. Hermit Cover
Pasta/Veggie Salad & Stuffed Breads - Redwing
Polish beans - Broadhopper
drinks & ice - IslandAl

How's this sound? 25 McChicken sandwiches, individually wrapped and ready for their 30 second, re-microwave zap! .....wrapped & zapped.....what a mcconcept in catering!

Maybe someone will volunteer a few pizza's ready for a microwave rezap from that House of Pizza in Center Harbor, next to the kayak store?

How about a small keg of vintage, Lucknow beer?

Uh... the "LuckNow" beer falls under adult beverages, so it's banned. (Thank God!)

The sandwiches... if you're serious, I'll update the 1st post of this thread. Please confirm.

Thanks!

I went to The Loon Center today and walked the trails with my 3 year old. He actually did really well but wanted NOTHING to do with the inside of the building (and was rather muddy by the time we returned from the walk). There is a large tent behind the building, a covered screen porch to the side of the building with several picnic tables, and who knows whatelse.

It's a nice facility - and if it's nice weather you should bring some comfortable walking shoes and take the trails! It was time well spent today!

I've sent an email to SteveA to ask what sorta kitchen is available (I think there is one... but he will know for sure.) I'll let you know his response....

No, I was not really serious about 25 mcchickens and an old keg of beer. Just threw that out for a little comedy.

Maybe a big bowl of granola would hit the spot....yes....a definate winner.....the best quality granola sold at Heath's! I just know it will be very well received!

One of the best quotes I read on the forum this summer (I think it was in the Boat Speed section) had to do with kayakers being crunchy... like granola... Maybe you can bring us a couple!

Default Let the games begin!

OK gang. I'm good for some burgers and dogs. I'll bring the mini-Webber.

Deb is donating a kitty pet puff (fluffy bed) for the raffle. (Remember Outlaw?)

For those of you that want to go by boat. I have moorings and dock space available. I'm the 9th house from north to south on the west side of Braun Bay. We'll figure out rides from the house to the Loon Center. If you want to stop by give me a call 455-7178 to RSVP a space.

Skip. I was not kidding about the hot tub. You too, Rattlesnake I Gal and Guy!

The last one in is a rotten egg!

Misty Blue.

Default Pasta/veggie salad

We'll be driving up from Connecticut on Saturday morning, arriving in time to attend the Forum Fest at noon, and will bring a pasta/veggie salad (and will make a donation to the Loon Society) and some stuffed breads from New Haven. Keeping my fingers crossed that we have a beautiful day! Forecast looks good.

Question: What are stuffed breads?

Default Stuffed breads

Imagine an elongated Italian bread (similar to a French bread) that is filled with any of the following stuffings: eggplant parm, chicken parm, pepperoni/cheese, spinich/sausage/cheese, broccoli/sausage/cheese....any variety of combinations, but these are the most popular (in our area, at least!) Although they are pre-baked, it is preferable to serve them heated from an oven. Do we know if the Loon Center has an oven? If not, the breads can be served at room temperature.

Team up those Polish beans with SteveA's chili... wait a couple of hours... then a dip in Misty Blue's hot tub and you've got an episode of SURVIVOR in the making right there!

So,........... Was a jacuzzi in the cards for after the forum? I left before everyone had gone. Maybe this is why there are a lack of pictures?
