If it matters to anyone else, my understanding is they will be serving Richardson's ice cream, a favorite of my wife & I.

I'm sure it's nice to have Richardson's Ice Cream but does anyone know of ice cream establishments around the lake who actually make their own ice cream on site? Fifteen years ago there used to be a place in Wolfeboro called "I scream" that did make and serve their own ice cream (it was excellent). |

on Little Squam, Route 3. They do small batches so the available flavors can vary. They are not open for the season yet. We went last year. Yum! Social Club in Lakeport Papa Beans in North Sandwich on Wing Road off of 113A. (It's self serve) Sandwich Creamery ice cream is available in the North Sandwich store on 113. (Also self serve) All are good with some eclectic flavors. |

I'm not quite sure why Dewey's, Ollie's, or the earlier places didn't make it, but I know I never returned to any of them because I was always underwhelmed, especially for the price (perhaps required given the location?). Nice setting, though, and I'll certainly give this new shop a go! My loves aren't based as much on homemade or not, but rather options, price, uniqueness, and location. Some blueberry pie ice cream with blueberry sauce, marshmallow, and whipped cream would be delightful! Early reviews are good—hope the OP had a great opening weekend! Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk Last edited by thinkxingu; 05-18-2026 at 07:06 AM. |

Another Bobby Sue is/was right next to the late lamented Birch & Vine restaurant in Tuftonboro. I don't know whether it remained after the restaurant lost its lease.

The nearest ice cream to the old Birch and Vine is probably at Pier 19. I was in Pier 19 the other day and it looks like they are going to have a large cigarette/tobacco counter there this year under the new owner. I know CVS and Walgreens have taken out all their smoking products and it looks like Pier 19 has done just the opposite. |

I was in there too over the weekend and noticed the large smoke section. They moved the checkout area all the way over to the left as you're walking out, and there's a big wall of cigarettes right behind the counter. Surprised me a bit.
The new owners seem nice, hope they can make a go of it. My one suggestion would be for them to return the ice-cream takeout window to its former glory. |

Unique to me are things like puffle cones/maple syrup/creamies (Eldridge/Maple Creamery), parfait-style sundaes (Liliuokalani's), fat-guy specials (Kellerhaus' "Collosus"), etc. I can get ice cream, especially Richardson's, anywhere... Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk |

I might point out that they are still getting set up. Right now it is just ice cream. I'm not sure if they will be offering other stuff as time goes on. They have a business manager and that hints there may be more coming.

Yes there was a nice woman who introduced herself as the general manager. Of course I had to ask if there is also a specific manager.

Richardson’s is the best commercial dairy made (Middleton MA) ice cream available around here IMHO. Death by Chocolate is…well you know…

Patti tried both, Ice Cream and a take out window, but there was always too much confusion on where to go, neither worked out. The whole building has been vacant for almost a year- the resort is coming.

It's a nice ride to the North Country if you use the back roads to Bethlehem NH.
They won the James Beard award for two years in a row. Every time I'm in the area, there is a long line down the street. I hate lines, so didn't try it. I took a nice leisurely stroll up and down Main Street. The food at the brewery is excellent. For the history buffs. There are guided tours. You can walk up the street. There are history markers set up along the road.
