Default Looking for CLASSIC CAR mechanic

My wife’s ‘55 Ford Fairlane (292 V8) Town Sedan was at a “friend of a friend’s” “shade tree” garage all summer…nice guy but physically, handicapped and after all summer of trying to get her car running acceptably (carb change etc) he ended up stymied and now the motor has a “RATTLE” inside that was never there before. Not positive but he may have “lost” a washer down the carb into (wherever it may have gone). Now he’s leaving for Florida and the car is sitting in his driveway and my car ice has to have it towed somewhere to get it back to running condition.
ANY suggestions on a CAPABLE, Inowledgable, mechanic that can get this ‘55 running again?

Alton Motorsports has a collection so maybe they would know of a mechanic.

Default Lake City Autobody

I had some bodywork done on one of my classics at Lake City Autobody in Gilford. They have a mechanical side of the business and while I was there, I saw an early 70's Buick Skylark getting engine work, an early 50's pickup belonging to Gilford Well (restored), and a few other antique cars in for tune-ups, brakes, etc.

I dealt with the GM, Bill, and they did a fantastic job. Looks like you could eat off the floor of the place, too...

Currier Garage in Holderness on Route 175 works on a wide variety of vehicles including old cars, new cars, trucks, buses, and utility construction vehicles. They have a very old Ford Model A that is used as a daily driver in Spring, Summer and Fall, and is not used in the winter due to winter road salt issue.

Currier has its own Ford Model A so it can work on antique cars from the 1930's.

Another place for antique car service is www.ktmauto.com in Plymouth, close to Main St. It has a 1925 Buick Opera Coupe and a 1940 car which belongs to KTM.

Sorry I'm late to this party
Richard at Moultonborough Automotive is a Ford guy and has restored a number of old ones - he's actually working on a 1952 Mercury Monterey right now. He has no problem with the old ones

Call Harmon Motors behind 'German Motorsports (Skip Kings), in Gilford.
I believe Harmon Motors tel# is (603) 527-8009

The owner 'Rusty' knows classic cars in&out, and has rebuilt them from the ground up, and has taken cars down to their frame.

I've been taking my cars there for years for service, he's honest and does the job at a very fair price. You may have to have the car towed to his shop, I don't believe he does house calls, but call them to discuss.

Good luck !

You could also try Neil Trindade at Neil's Laconia Auto on South Main St. in Laconia. I know he has a passion for older cars.
