Looking for someone who could do a siding job on my house in Alton Bay. Existing home with wood siding that needs to be replaced. Also need to replace 2 sliders on the same house. I realize I might have to wait a year for install, just want to get process started and get in line for the work.
Thanks |

In addition to the local folks, don't forget to get a written quote from Lowe's and Home Depot.
During the labor (and material) shortage they may be the best "go to" guys around.... |

There is no shortage of beveled wood siding.
As for a slider, unless it is in-stock... vinyl would be about 4 to 6 weeks out, while Andersen or Marvin would be about 9-10 weeks out for the middle lines and 18 weeks to 24 weeks out for the aluminum clad. (Andersen will state 4 weeks, but not all the parts will come on time). Any of the lumber yards should have a contractor contact list. |

About 4 years ago I used him again and it was a disaster. Poor work, numerous no shows, and he failed to come back and fix problems. And when he was done, I had to hire someone to redo everything he said he did because it leaked. I don't know what happened to him (I have my suspicions) because he wouldn't return calls. |

Sort of like "Once in a blue moon"
His LLC business entity was administratively dissolved by the NH Secretary of State on September 1, 2009 -- 12 years ago and his trade name registration was terminated at the same time as his LLC was formed in 2007. |

Make sure you are knowledgeable about sidings, especially the installation process and maintenance. I've seen far too many bad installs and improper maintenance.
The worst installs were vinyl sidings. I've to strip too many of them when the underlayment was rotted to the point it had to be replaced. The best install I've seen was from BensonWood. See this link if you want the details. https://nakamotoforestry.com/wp-cont...ing-Manual.pdf It may be extreme but it's a great guideline to go with when designing a statement of work with an installer.

i used blue moon for roofs and siding. He is a one man band and juggles projects. He was late and i worried about getting it done but have to tell you he did a great job at a fair price.

I think the problem with dependability and quality of work are more recent. Although, I did hear of an island job that went bad about 10 years ago.
It remains difficult to get decent tradespeople to show up on time and do a good job at a fair price. Some construction people that I know and have used for years act like they are doing you a favor to show up. Maybe they are............... |
