So with the economy shutting down for many of us, what are people doing with payments that are due at months end for dockage and valet? Has anyone called the marina's and asked for deferment or potential reduction in fees?

With slips at a premium a marina can demand payment in full before the season starts. Sometimes they offer a small discount for payment even earlier.
I paid in full for the season weeks ago. |

Letting valet slide this summer...marina prices went up and besides we are selling the Tritoon boat to find more of a “fishing/trailerable” boat to use on and off Winni.
Spent a pile of $$ end of summer into Fall with an addition on the house. We are paying down debt instead of boating/valeting this year. As retirees, we have to pick our financial battles and as it turns out, with the Chinese virus economic, hit to our investments, which has been considerable to date, and the uncertain times, this might be a better plan. ![]() |

Its a hard to let a slip or valet go, With slips and valet still in hi demand and dealers selling new boats. If you let go,you may get locked out next year.
My marina has waiting list for each. |

Paid my valet in January. Slip lease is due May 1, and if not paid, I'm sure there are others waiting for it. Skip a year and get back in line? Not me. This is a rental from a private party.
When things went sour in 2008, if I recall correctly, it took a year before people stopped using and/or sold boats and slips. |

Not planning to “get back in line” for valet. We did it for 3 seasons...time for a change! Thus the trailerable boat.

I have received a couple phone calls to rent slips from people that have cancelled. I believe you are going to see a drop in demand for slips atlas for this season. How often does someone call me to rent their slip, uhhh never

I know not many here agree with me, but I think the price some of the local marinas were starting to charge was criminal. I think there's capitalism and then there's greediness—to me it's no different than people buying up toilet paper, wipes, etc. and reselling at a profit.
