Lake level over next 4 weeks?
This is our first summer on Lake Winni with a boat (docked in front of our house and on a lift), so we have no experience with the lake level in the fall relative to taking boats out of the water for the season. Will the water level drop much more in the next 4 weeks? (Anticipating taking the boat and jet skis out in early October.) Thanks!

Depending on where you are and how you have your lift positioned -- are you relatively deep water to shores edge or shallows significantly (quickly)….. I would keep an eye on it each weekend and make your own assessment.
I have personally helped "drag" a boat off it's lift because the owner waited a tad too long in a relatively shallow area near his dock and the lift did not go down far enough to float the boat. We literally left the stern drive "up" and with my boat, gently pulled him off the lift. With that said -- do not panic either -- he simply didn't watch the water dropping for 2-3 weeks nor was he high & dry - simply not enough water under him whereby he could even "Power" himself off that lift.

9/9/19 The current level of the Lake is 503.46, with outflow at 600 cfs. Full Lake is 504.32. Presently, we are .86 or 10.32 inches below full lake. You can make assumption where you think the level will in October, and 4-6 inches lower is very possible. Try to measure the water depth at your lift where your boat begins to float. Measure how much lower your lift will drop, and if you will have enough water with an additional drop of 6 inches. I have trouble getting off the lift around 14 or so inches drop in the level. We tend not to use the boat after Labor Day, and usually pull it that weekend. Good luck. |

Thanks to everyone for the feedback and advice. It is relatively shallow under our boat, and I did exactly as suggested - measured the depth of the lift at which the boat now floats and calculated how much lower I can lower the lift before it "bottoms out." It seems it's only 4"-6", so I've scheduled to take the boat out this Friday - sadly. But at least I won't find myself high and dry (literally) in a couple weeks. Sad to see the boating season come to an end.
