In the past the Weirs Beach sign went off after the last Mount cruise and didn't come back on until the season started up again in May. It was always a sad day when it went off, and something to celebrate when it came back on.
This year it appears things are different: the bulbs on the sign are red and green (and all operating, a nice change) and the sign is on, night and day. Does anyone out there know why the changes and whether this is a permanent thing?

I thought the red and green lights were a nice touch. They did a nice job with the new lights along the sidewalk and it looks much better. It is all a nice first step in bringing the Weirs back to life.

I, too, noticed that it was off. It happened towards the end of the week after New Year's. Maybe a new tradition? On for the Mount launch, and off for the start of the New Year? (The other tradition made more sense to me.)

The sign itself is a very attractive design from the 1950's or early 1960's and has an iconic look somewhat similar to the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign that everyone knows. In the first 5-months of 2017, the City of Laconia made major upgrades to the roads, sidewalks, lights, parking, and utilities and the area is looking as great as that restored Weirs Beach sign with the moving lights ..... Welcome to Fabulous Weirs' Beach .....

How much might people pay for a replica say maybe 24"x24" (with lights or without)?
As a retirement project I have a nice new woodshop with a cnc router and have been thinking about making customized lake winni stuff (beer boxes, custom signs, cribbage boards etc) |
