Anyone want to guess what this is?? What's throwing me for a loop is the absence of a tail unless it is tucked under his belly somehow....

It looks like a plain old raccoon to me.

I'd say racoon also.You can see a tail right at the very end before he disappears below.

That's what I thought but not much of a tail for a coon... Mighty fat coon for this time of year also as supposedly raccoons lose 50% of their body weight over the winter months. This one must have found a good food source on the island!

Looks like a badger to me. Flat head, short tail and they are nocturnal.

Zoomed in and Clipped some sections of the video that show the mystery animal.
It looks like something from the cat family.

Could be a woodchuck as it moves like one. However woodchucks do in fact hibernate and this is about the time they would be coming out of their dens... He's pretty fat though for a post hibernation chuck!!
Hopefully I will get more shots of him soon!!

Looks like a smallish fat bobcat or a hefty bob tailed house cat. Doesn’t seem to move like a coon...no greens for a woodchuck to eat now...no badgers in NH that I know of.

First glance I thought maybe a bobcat. However legs look too short and walks too clumsy for a bobcat I think

We had badgers that burrowed in the banking along the canal of the hydro-electric station where I worked in northern NH.

could have been either a racoon or a porky but I would lean toward a racoon based on: speed of walk (porkies tend to walk slower than that), how it walked, I'm pretty sure I see ears, the missing tail seems more obvious toward the end of the shot. Also I would expect a racoon to be more likely to be exploring the waters edge than a porky. Cases could be made for either though. Also just looked up "porcupine tracks in snow" and porkies seem to drag their feet and bellies in the snow so again...leaning toward racoon.

We have a pair of greys that are in the yard daily usually before we’re out and about but the tracks are ever present...

Definitely not a raccoon the way the back legs move and are shaped. Moves more like a badger or porcupine in my humble opinion.

Red fox print: about 2.5" long and 2" wide. Stride about 14". Anyway Rusty nailed it.

Its the only one I thought it might be based on what I've seen on my property in the past though I've not seen a red fox in many moons.
