Saw this boat sitting in front of Dave's Motor Boat Shoppe and just had to get a picture. What a beauty! The ultimate island boat!!

Seaway boats are built by Eastern in Milton, NH and Dave is a dealer.

I agree that the Seaway is a great boat for an island resident. Years ago, we had a 1966 26 foot Lyman that we thought was a great island boat if you were limited to one boat. Loved the 9'1" beam and the round chines. As times and designs have changed, we note that a lot of people have difficulty handling a single screw inboard, and raising the outdrive is also an advance.

If I bought that boat I would put a 150 Yamaha four stroke on the back. He was showing the boat with a 115 which is a little under powered in my opinion. The 150 would be a good compromise for boat power and fuel efficiency.

Someone please buy that boat before I do!

As of yesterday, Jan 6, there's still one boat in use that looks like it is going back and forth from Gilford to Mark Island. Goes past Timber and Mark Island around the bend, out of sight, between Mark and Bear Island. It's an old aluminum pontoon with an outboard that's been remade into a flat-top with a small, enclosed pilot house ...... a utility freight hauler or something. How's that for an island boat?

The other day, two days ago on Thursday, with the wind and white caps, it looked like it was kicking up big spray, with the spray going sideways, coming from the back of both pontoons. You definitely want big confidence in your outboard, fuel tank, and fuel line to be out there all alone like that. Today is much colder, and the deep freeze can put a stop in the fuel line valve to even a reliable outboard, I think.

That is awful pretty... but it also looks incredibly expensive.

Even 150 HP doesn't seem like enough for a boat of that size and weight.

I agree with FLL, pontoon boat stripped of everything other than an engine is about as useful as you can get. Not going to win the best looks award but sure as hell can haul lots of stuff with it.

It's a very efficient hull to say the least. My 22 eastern which is basically the same boat but two feet smaller has 115 and that's plenty of power. Max speed is about 37 mph which is all I need to go to the island. The 115 is a 4 cylinder where the 150 is a 6 cylinder those couple extra cylinders make all the difference in the world.

Agreed, we get 37 mph with a Yamaha 115 on our 22' Eastern as well. I would guess that the 24' Seaway would perform about the same with the 150. Just fine for an island boat whose job is to get people and lots of stuff back and forth.

I have no experience with this type of boat but have owned both the Yamaha F115 and the F150 (four stroke outboards). While they are both 4 cylinder outboards, the F150 has almost 50 percent more displacement and is significantly stronger motor than the F115. Both run great but the performance between the two is night and day and I would think the F150 would be a much better option of the two on a boat that size.

I stand corrected, I thought the Yamaha 150 was a 6 cylinder. I know Evinrude's Etec goes to 6 cylinder at 150 HP while the 115 is still a 4 cylinder. (I have the 115 Etec on my boat)

I started wondering how much they would give me for a trade-in on my Eastern 22... and then swung back to reality and all the house projects that need to be completed first...

Beautiful boat but that's crazy! The one Dave has for sale was a little over $50,000.00 with the 115 Yamaha on it and it's brand new!! Considering I paid $53,000.00 for my 22' 8 years ago, I think the one at Dave's is a great price!

The 27 Islander is a completely different boat. Still crazy though!

Totally loaded, twins, thruster, leather, etc. The one that Dave has is just their standard barebones boat.

I am somewhat familiar with Eastern boats here in the salt waters of Cape Cod. They are very well respected.

How is an Eastern boat different from a Seaway boat?
