Bizer or Duncan charts?
I see a lot of references to people using Bizer charts but have not seen anyone mention Duncan charts. Does anyone have experience with both and can share their opinion on which one is better?

As a result of this skirmish--some refer to it as the Great Betrayal of Centre Harbour--Bizer was granted lone sovereignty over Winni maps. Since then, he has enjoyed his reign peacefully. Nobody really knows what ever happened to Duncan. I heard not long ago that he had become a server in a 1920's-themed speakeasy known for its incredible crawfish and bathtub gin, but that was never confirmed. Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

I usually like to have both charts, as each has their own charms.
I tend to 100.1% use the Bizer, and trust it for navigating (but always follow the markers on the lake as the last word). On a recent update to the Duncan chart, several people pointed out some errors in it, perhaps they have been fixed by now. But my one complaint, Bizer seems to refuse to properly name my favorite rock! I guess they are trying to stay slightly PC, but I'm not sure why, it's well known on other charts by name, except on the Bizer where it is only known as FL "46". Tell people that you are at FL 46 and they will most probably have to pull a chart to understand where you are located. Tell them that you are at Nipple Rock and they will know exactly where you are without having to consult a chart.

Until you mentioned it -- I never noticed and would have argued with you.
Seems Bizer dropped labeling it as "nipple rock" for in an older Lake chart that we have hanging in our condo it is there in print -- yet as I look at a later edition I see it has been removed. Not at the condo until the weekend, so can't tell you which edition is hanging, but it isn't THAT old (perhaps 3-4 years out of date) .

By the way.. I'm starting some lake folklore....
Did you know? Everyone that show's their bare nipples to Nipple Rock receives a year of good luck and possible fortune! Don't worry, "What happens on the boat, stays on the boat!" Spread the word!

From Bizer's FAQ page:
Quote:
Also, Bizer doesn't want to put anything controversial on the map. Of all the complaints received about Bizer's omission, 100% have come from men. Ladies, how do you feel on the subject? I also want to note: That 2011 post showed Duncan that their position of that rock was in error by 600 feet. That's over 1/10th mile. They corrected their map in later editions based on Bizer's post. I always love and refer to your maps as well as suggest to friends and new boaters that they purchase one!
But I'd like to see "the" rock named, and it would be fun if you included my bit of folklore that I'm trying to start! Don't worry, I haven't copyrighted this, so you can be the first!

Original post.
Bizer or Duncan charts? Depends on what you want to do with it. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1268476...shade-map-lamp Just stumbled across this, while trying to find some decent images of some of the older late 70's to mid 80's navigation maps of the lake that had (for lack of a better term) a brief overview of some of the basic boating laws off to the side of the main map detail. Then stumbled across the lampshade anyone ever seen this before. Could not find anything doing a search for "lampshade" "lamp" and "botanicallampshades". |

Lampshade
I have a similar lampshade at home. It has to be at least 20 years old. Nipple Rock has been known by that name for at least the 44 years I've been on the lake.

Thanks for the pictures, had never seen them before. Really want to get one or two for my little fishing / tv room.
