Hi,
On my tachometer gauge, there is an LCD readout at the bottom (gauge on right in attached pic). What shows there are shapes (hourglass is what I recall), not numbers or letters. Any idea what they reflect? Thanks! Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

Is there an hour meter elsewhere on the dash? My guess is it should display the number of hours on your engine.

Most of the time an hour glass symbol is telling you your hour meter is functioning/recording time.

As has been said, the flashing hourglass is an indication that the guage is recording hours. The actual hours, usually to a tenth of an hour, should be displayed as well. You may need to disconnect your battery to kill power to the guage cluster to allow it to reset. This will not reset the actual hours but may clear the guage display if it has "scrambled" itself....

1. Call your dealer and ask them to explain, or give you information about the operation of the gauges. Or...
2. Look up the gauges on the internet and see if you can find "manuals" for them. Sorry if you have already tried this. ![]()

OK, for some reason I didn't notice the numbers, but are these hours? There's no way I have 9.8 of drive time--we've only used it two or three days.

They are engine hours, so some were before you owned it. Kind of like when buying a new car.

I think certain gauges do rack up hours when just the key is turned on but can't say for sure. In terms of hours that your dealer put on it, I would think a couple of hours would be fairly normal. They are required by both the boat manufacturer and engine manufacturer to do pre delivery inspections and that includes a "shake down cruise" if you will.

Do you need the key on to power your radio?
Is there an accessory position? My boats have had a way of doing so in order to prevent the overstatement of engine hours. |
