Maybe someone has had the same problem and found a solution.
My house runs on lake water with a pick up pipe about 75 feet in front of the house, 2 feet off the bottom. I have a separate sediment filter and then a 3 chamber system with a sediment filter, a charcoal filter, and a UV chamber after that. I have also installed separate filters on the water lines that go to the washing machine after the water passes through the rest of the system, So that means that the water to the washing machine passes through 5 appliances before it gets to the washing machine. I have had the water tested and it passes for drinking water quality. The white laundry, despite the addition of substantial amounts of bleach, does not come completely clean, It slowly deteriorates away from "bright white" and eventually looks kind of dingy. I assume someone here has had a similar problem and possibly found a solution. Any help? Thank you |

Are you sure you are using real bleach. I bought some large containers of splash-less regular bleach at SAMs a couple years back and it turns out it's not really bleach.
I wasn't getting clean whites and finally tracked it down to that. |

Is a water softener system needed? Doesn't hard water effect the cleaning ability of the detergent?

I have so much iron in my water, that adding bleach to the water will precipitate it out. Whites come out sort of brown, if using bleach.
I need a green sand filter, it is on the to do sometime list. |
