Looking for recommendations for a ski tuner in the lakes region. My skis were damaged at the last tuning by a local shop that ground the texture out of the bottoms. After one terrible run on them, I paid $40 to a shop out west to have them fixed. The edges need to be sharpened again, this time I hope it is by someone that knows how to deal with high-performance skis and beveled edges.

Piche's should take care of them no problem. They work with the Gunstock ski team

I can show you how to tune skis. I've been racing since I has a teenager. An experienced racer on the Masters, WMRL and NASTAR circuit.
Ski racers don't trust business establishments to tune skis. If we need a major bottom grinding or ski repairs, we would go to S&W in Concord NH or The Race Room in Lincoln. http://www.theraceroom.com/ I have a portable unit and can show you at your work bench. A couple of beers and your good!

If you do go to Piche's, you may be able to call ahead to be able to have them do it while you wait. I did that earlier this year, but they said to come midweek and before, say, 1 pm. After that they get busier with school kids' needs and you'd have to leave them. Waiting a bit for them certainly was shorter than a second 45-minute trip.

Thanks for the lead on Piche's. They brought back the magic to my skis in a $35 tuning. Very happy with the work!
